Maury Place at Monument is the perfect lodging accommodation for runners and spectators of the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k, Richmond's premier running event named one of "America's great road races" by USA Today. 2010 was the 11th anniversary of this event, setting records with over 37,000 participants. The event is the 10th largest running event of any distance in the US, and the 26th largest in the world.

Monument Avenue is a beautiful race course, with its wide grass median and famous statues, lined with trees and historic homes, and featuring one mile of cobblestone paving. The 10k welcomes all levels of participants; runners, joggers, and walkers will find the event to be well organized and friendly. The one word to describe the race is "fun"-- each year sponsors hold a "Dress Up & Run" contest with both group and individual prizes for the best costume.

Runners pass right by Maury Place on both the outbound and incoming legs of the race, making our bed and breakfast a great accomodation for both racers and their fans. Our B&B guests can enjoy the race from our large front porch, and guests reserving the Pathfinder Suite can watch from their Private balcony overlooking the race.

Organized each year by the Richmond's Sports Backers, the event has been sponsored each year by Ukrops, a family owned Richmond grocery store chain. Since Ukrops sold their stores in 2010, the 2011 the sponsor will be Martins, the company that bought the Ukrops stores. Ukrops, which retains its food preparation business, will co-sponsor the event, which will retain the Ukrops name.
