Maury Place Is One Year Old!
Today, October 31, is the one year anniversary of our first guests staying at Maury Place. During this year we have been featured in articles in the Washingtonian and Taste of the South Magazines, and our photo was featured on the cover of the Virginia B&B Association Directory. Guests often inquire about our living space. Our 3rd floor innkeepers quarters will be featured in this winter's Small Room Decorating Magazine! During this year, we also added a pool and hot tub to the amenities we offer guests.

Maury Statue Anniversary
November 11th marks the 80th anniversary of the unveiling of the Maury Statue on Monument Avenue. Matthew Fontaine Maury (1806-1873), who never lived at Maury Place, was known as The Pathfinder of the Seas. He published works in the mid-nineteenth century on sea navigation and was internationally known for his work and study of oceanography, meteorology, and navigation of the seas. He wrote some of the first text books of what became modern oceanography. Maury Place guests have a direct view of the statue from our front porch, or from the private balcony in our Pathfinder Suite.
