Spring Fling Social Was a Blast!!
By Erica Lamberta
The Museum District Association hosted the annual Spring Fling social on May 4, 2010, at Maury Place at Monument, Richmond's luxury bed and breakfast on West Franklin Street. About 150 members enjoyed a gorgeous spring day in the heart of the neighborhood. During the late afternoon party, guests mingled with board members and city officials, enjoying delicious hors d'oeuvres and beverages, including shrimp, fruit, and sandwiches.
At the Spring Fling, guests found themselves surrounded by an atmosphere that can only be described as uniquely Richmond. Innkeepers Jeff Wells and Mac Pence spent two years renovating the historic building prior to opening in October 2008. They worked diligently to ensure that every detail of each room is a testament to our neighborhood's rich history—even down to dogwood flowers embossed in the molding. Today, Maury . Place is one of Richmond's premier treasures.
Jeff and Mac happily opened their lovely establishment to Museum District residents. Many Museum District residents have invited out-of-town loved ones to stay at Maury Place, and have even stayed there themselves. This was the first year the MDA held the springtime gala at Maury Place.
The annual Spring Fling event is always tons of fun and a great way to reconnect with neighbors after a cold and dark winter. We encourage everyone to plan to attend next year!
